steering problem.

its wierd. i cant really turn my steering wheel. i cant makea U turn because i cant turn it alot. i had a really messed up power steering pump so i bought a new one today and put it on and its still the same. any ideas?

Check you gear box and make sure the arm is not hitting anything. Check it while someone is sitting in the car and turning the wheel back and forth. From there check and see if anything is bent or mis adjusted in your front end.

i was talking to some mechanic and he said its probably my "ram arm"
Is this what he ment?

Yeah I think thats what he is talking about.

I have never heard of one actually jamming up before. If your power steering pump was totally shot you should still be able to turn the wheel from full left to full right........It will take much more effort but should not jam up.

Do you have headers on the car? I remember reading a post on here about needing a "drop" bracket for the power steering if you had headers on the car.Seems the headers keep the ram from fully opening and closing.

not yet. i just have the stock manifolds.
ok so my dads friend came over and he tuned my carb and he said i needed a bigger rack and pinion =(.
dont those cost around 1,000?
