Default Fuel pump Block off

Why would you need a fuel pump block off on a brand new Ford Racing motor. Is that if you are going fuel injected ???? Im only asking because i just put a new ford racing 302 into my 66 coupe and there is a block off plate , but i know i need to remove it thus it is a Carb motor. Please get back to me thanks

Yeah, if it's FI you dont use the mechanical fuel pump. Major oil leak if you dont block the hole off.

Or just use an electric fuel pump.

Make sure that there is a fuel pump eccentric on the front of the cam. You should be able to see it through the hole.

If there was a block off i would almost bet theres no eccentric.Just buy a holley electric and put it on a hidden toggle switch for added safety.
