Default Staggered plates?

Anyone know the pro's and con's to using staggered shock plates? And what kind of fabrication needs to be done to get the reverse shock to mount?

Staggered shocks were used to help control axle wrap up during acceleration and deceleration. Depends on your skill level how hard fabricating the mounts would be.

They were stock on some 4-speed Mustangs. You might be able to find a set.

The lower mount is simply the a second right(?) side plate mounted on the left in reverse. The upper mount is relocated and there is a re-enforcement plate. There is a guy on ebay that sells the exact parts built to mathch the boss 302 set up. Will require some welding, but it looks like a pretty straight forward install. For a street car, I don't know that you would notice it or need it.

Good luck

I had the reverse driver side shock plate when changing out the rear to a later model I had to use the springs shock plate ect, ect, that came with the axlebecause the axle was larger in diameter to re-use the old plates and leafs, there is a way that you can cut the shock mounting ear/hole off the rear side of the plate and re-weld it to the front side and fits pefectly in placeand can't really tell that it had been done, I have pix of this somewhere, let me see can I find it,
