Default Parking Brake Help

I need some help. Today when I parked my 67, I went to engage the parking brake (lever pulls out form under the dash to the left of the steering column) and everything went "loose". There is no resistance in the lever when I pull it out and it doesn't "pull" back in when I release it like it did before.

To make it worse, the parking brake is about halfway engaged. I had to drive it home from the store (about 3 miles) with the parking brake halfway engaged. Not good.

I will get under there tomorrow and take a look, but I have no idea what exactly I am looking for and have no idea how much damage I have done.

Any guidance?

Default RE: Parking Brake Help

could be a number of things - first guess, if the handle is original to the car, would be that the end stop on the cable came off and the cable slipped off the end of the p-brake handle assembly.

if thats the case, i'd probably just get a replacement cable (front cable) and reinstall it. Not that bad if you know how, but before I try to describe it check and see if thats the problem

theres a couple of other easy possibilities, the parking brake equalizer/rod may have broken or the nut may have finally backed off and fallen off... or it may be a problem back at the brakes

the whole p-brake system is really easy to figure out once you're under the car, take a look and see what appears to no longer be there
