Default Putting engine together ?'s

Hey there fellow mustang enthusiasts! I am a noob to this forum and am currently putting an engine together for my 1969 coupe (302). It has been awhile since I've done this and have a couple of questions for the gurus here.

1: When putting the head gaskets on I noticed they were stamped with "front" on them. I did this but one appears to be upside down and the coolant passages are open on opposite sides, left side in the front of block and right side on the back. Is this normal?

2: I got some edelbrock heads to go on the engine barely used and the pushrods appear to be too short. Where can I find some specs on how long they should be?

Thanks in advance for your time and advise.

welcome to the forums

please dont post with that ugly bold text, it hurts my eyeballs

you will need a pushrod length checker. you can pick one up from summitracing for 10-20 bucks. its basically an adjustable pushrod. once you find thet correct length, you can order hardened pushrods in the proper size. make sure when your checking the length you set the rocker like you would with a normal pushrod (i.e. you want the tip of the rocker arm properly positioned on the tip of the valve and you want about 1/2 a turn of lifter preload)
