Default Aftermarket tilt steering wheel

Anybody had one installed?

I just want to know if the tilt column is sturdy and stable enough.

And does it give you decent extra room when tilted all the way up?

I'm asking because I'm a big dude with a bigger appetite, I'm tired of squeezing in and out like a sardine, lol.

I have a Flaming River and it is great. Usually mine is in mid position and I'm about 240 dry. Another trick is to lower and move back the seat bases but this requires some cutting and welding. Sometimes the rear seat is mute, but it makes it great for us bigger boys to fit. I have done a couple like this so far, and its great. Heres another photo of the Flaming River column. I may have posted the tilt positions in another post.

That looks cherry, man!!!!

Is this the stainless steel one?

I know it's more expensive than the unpainted one.

Can you direct me by links to exactly what components to purchase?

How much did the whole thing run you price wise?

Did you install it all yourself, or a professional?

If it was a pro, how much did he charge you?

I'm asking all this questions because I seriously want one.

Is the column pretty sturdy? Does it wobble at all?

I do have Scat Elite seats, so they slide and tilt back a lot better than the original seats, so leg problem is not an issue, just my damn bloody belly, lol.

I appreciate all your help.

Its Stainless but not polished, that saved some money. I did paint the top part Black to match the interior. I had an original tilt away column in this car but due to the failure and the cost of the turn signal switch,I elected just to replace the column. I had a Mustang II suspension already soswapping the columnwas fairly easy. The column tube diameter is a little smaller than the original so I had to alter my mounting brackets both on the firewall and under dash mounting points. They sell a installation kit that will bolt in but since I bought this column at a show ($299) I did'nt but it. I spent about 30 minutes altering the brackets. The column is strong and appears too be well made. Theres another company that you may want to take a look at. "Ididit". It may be worth taking a look at along with Flaming River.

We used the Flaming River column as well, installation was pretty easy. The column is a modified GM unit, it is plenty stout, and makes more space.

The only installation issue we had was with the wiring. Like I said, it is a GM column, going into a Ford. They provided a "color code" and a new plug to wire into the original Mustang wiring, but the color code I got was way wrong... I had to spend a little time with a test light to figure out what was what. Even this considered, the Column went in in about 2 hours or so, or maybe a little longer...
