Default changes from 67 to 69?

I have been looking around for parts for my 69 and cant hardly tell the differance from a 67, 68, or 69. what would keep a trunk lid from a 67 from fitting on a 69, or fenders and the such? Most of the places i look have the cars grouped into catagories, as in 64 1/2; 65-66; 67-68; 69-73. the 69 looks nothing like a 70 or later but looks excatly like a 67-68. I have also seen body kits and things that are for 65-66 and kits for 67-68. The 67-68 kits look like they would fit perfectly on my 69, what would make them not work?

65-66, same body style. 67-68, share the same body style, 69-70 have the same body style.

back of a 67 fastback.

back of a 69 mach1. still the same basic body as a base 69fastbak. notice the differnt tail light style

69 style front

70 style front

So basically if i purchased an elanore body kit more than likely it would fit ? most of the front clip and rear panels would be replaced. The differences are so small that when adding the new rear valance and such it should negate the factory changes? I am working on a coupe by the way (guess i should have stated that in the beginning, my bad ,sorry) and it seems that the changes on the fastback are more pronounced than the coupe.

No, the Eleanor kit is for the 67-68 body style
