Hey man, if you got the money, get er done!
I think it is a worthwhile investment. If you are going to like the car more, that is all that matters if you ask me. I dropped about a grand for my hood... About $450 for the hood and pins from Maier and $550 to have it fit, primed, painted, polished, installed on vehicle including hood pins.
Do I have any regrets? Of course not! The car looks 10X better than it did before.

Items required to change the tail of '70 coupe to the "Shelby" Look.

1. Fiberglass Tailight panel - Approx. $250.00 - $275.00
2. Fiberglass Deck Lid (Trunk lid) Approx. - $350.00 - $445.00
3. LH & RH Fiberglass Quarter extensions (Conv. style) approx. $65.00 - $95.00 each
4. Tailight lenses approx. $40.00 each (Need 2)
5. Tailight frames/chrome bezels (same thing) approx. $75.00 each (Need 2)
6. Tailight Gaskets approx. $8.00 per pair
And now the hard part to find!
7. 3 peice endcap and trunk lace (Conv. style) with S-H-E-L-B-Y chrome letters accross trunk peice. Approx. $450.00 - $475.00 very limited quan. avail. at shelbyparts.com contact jesse about avail.

Changing over to the Shelby look is nice, but expensive. I have a '69 vert. thatI have purchased ALL (Front/Back/interior and roll bar) items for the Shelby look. some of the parts are not reproduced and you must find originals - but the back end parts are made. You might try rebel Mustang in LaHabra CA for the fiberglass. Pretty good prices and fit. (Quarter extention to trunk lid line is always a hard fit and requires some work. Even the original Shelby cars did not have a very clean fit here.) Keep in mind for a coupe you need convertible parts. Below is a shot from a car sold on e-bay showing what you would have when done. (Note the poor fitting trunk lid line even on this car). Except for the exhaust in the center which adds many more $$$ to the change. Adding the exhaust collector, exhaust port through valence, and the rear valence for a Shelby would add approx. $575.00 - $650.00 to your project.

Good Luck!

Looking at the video above, if that's what you want get just the quarter extensions and trunk lid, then you will have to fill the groove or channel in them that is for the lacing (Lot of fiberglass work to get it smooth). also he has eliminated the body line between the extensions and the quarter panel on the sides (Still more work). Personally, I would leave the channel, use the lace parts and perhaps attach M-U-S-T-A-N-G chrome letters from the current trunk lid.

If you use all the parts for the "Shelby Look" tail you would have the basic apperance of the '68 California Special, even more so if you used the '69 shelby conv. side scoops.
