Default Engine Swap ?

Just wondering how much would an auto/performance shop charge to do an engine sway? I see all these cheap crate engines(308's pushing 400hp+ for $3k shipped)on ebay and my dad and I r thinking of getting a project car for next yr and if it has a lot of miles on the engine, doing a swap. probably getting a 5.0 or older mustang. Just want to know some estimates and see what it will run. And also if u can tell me how much hp each of the transmission could take(5spd stick) stock and is there a way to make them stronger w/o taking them out or putting in a new one?
Thanks In Advance

Your mileage may vary, but I'm guessing a shop that knows what they're doing can probably complete the swap in ~10 hours. Maybe more, maybe a lotless. So lets say they charge $80 an hour, that's $800. Then there's always "extra" stuff you didn't realize you needed...maybe some hoses, fuel pump, gaskets, antifreeze, heck even fresh oil. I bet your into another $200 before you know it.

I'd set aside $1000 for the engine swap if you have someone else perform it. Keep in mind that my guess assumes that you re-use as much as you can (including intake and carb).

The best thing to keep in mind is just replace things as you needto (read: when you can afford it). Otherwise it is very overwhelming, for me at least.

Good luck.

i got quoted by the cheap guy in Alabama for 1200, so i did it myself, lots of problems so they will charge you for those as well.
