Question for v8 swappers
I'm swapping a '65 V8 rearend into a '66 I6 coupe.
The guide in the FAQ indicates that you should "choose wisely" when it comes to parking brake cable set ups since the '65 used 2 cables almost all the way from front to back, whereas the '66 used a single cable to the rearend, then split to go to the wheels.
I'd like to "wisely" choose, but what is the way I should go. I'd love to cut the '65's cables (would make life easier) but won't if that's not the wise thing to do.
What do I do???????

I don't believe there is any difference in the parking brake cable setup between the 6cyl and 8cyl cars in '66. Looks like catalogs don't differentiate. If you've got the long cable, then you have the half round cable pull bracket. You should be able to just unhook the cables from the 7" rear and install into the 8" rear.
Well, I guess I need to look at the '66 I6, but I swear that's what the write-up in the FAQ said.
In fact, here's a quote "13. Emergency brake cable. Note '65s and '66s are different. The '66s use a single cable to both rear brakes while the '65s have two separate cables. Choose wisely."
Thanks for your input!

We used the 66 I-6 cables. they hooked up to the ssbc rear disks just right. While I can not comment on a "stock to stock" swap, I am inclined to believe that the 66 I-6 cables should work fine considering that they hooked to the "direct swap" disk brake setup flawlessly.
Besides, you should already have everything you need to make this setup work, and IMO it is a pretty good setup.
For full disclosure I will have to state that I modified the setup slightly for driveshaft clearance. This was due to some changes needed to mount the TKO transmission... While the setup is still basically stock, I had to enlarge the "horseshoe" where the rear cable loops, and had to strengthen the woefully inadequate "e-brake "arm" mount that came with the tranny swap crossmember.
