Default What to buy

I sold my 2002 gt for a baby carrying minivan, and I'm making plans for a replacement muscle car. I've always liked the 68,69 and 70, but I don't know what to look for. Heck, I don't even know if I should care if the numbers match. I'd like to start researching this, are there good reference books, or just common sense thinking to help me out here. Thanks in advance
Jeff

If your going to build a modified car dont worry at all about matching #'s, most importantly your looking for the least rust. Passenger, then driver floor boards, indicates leaking cowl or heater core(passengers side) Heater core easy fix. Cowl is a different matter.( can be fixed if the rest of the car is worth it)If you can find a rust free car, even a six, everything else can be added. All depends on what your budget is & how involved you want to get.

unless you like 4 wheel drums bad bump steer and sloopy steering forget a numbers matching type of car a restomod can be worth the same or more. try http://ww2.collectorcartrader.com/ craigslist.org or even ebay but dont buy a car off ebay with out seeing it in person first.do you want a coupe, fastback,or convertable the coupe is the cheapest of the 3 and the lightest and strongest.my 68 coupe that didnt run i got for 3k needed a new carb and front valance you can get lucky sometimes.

i second the rust issue. you dont want to fool with a rusted out stang. i also second the get a 67. they look like a 68 but better to me. just my opinion anyway. to each there own. I'd take a 68 quickly too.
