Sorry I just read your first post it is power with assist. This sounds like the power assist unit has a right side bad valve. I would try switching the left side pressure line with the right side pressure line and see if problem reverses. If this is a fact you have a bad assisting unit. I'm sure that you have checked the right side pressure line to make sure it has no blockage. Also make sure the assist unit shaft is centered evenly for both directions. It is not the power steering unit it just supplies the pressure for the assist unit.

The worm gear could also be adjusted to tight being that it is new. How much slack do you have in steering wheel. Do you have a little play left and right or no play at all ?

Hello, Thanks for the reply, It has very little play in the steering. I tried crossing the line and the wheel took a hard right. so I am in the process of chanding the control valve, so for now I am off to work I go. I will keep you posted.

Thanks Larry

It was the power steering control valve. I put the old one back in and it works like a charm.

Thanks 1970 mach1 for your help and responding to this post. Larry
