Undercar lighting on the classics
A local 50's style restaurant hold a car show every Saturday night, exclusively for classic cars (with very few exceptions). I was there last Sat. and when it got dark out, I noticed that a lot of the cars there had undercar lighting, including 2 Mach 1's (a '69 and a '71). Now IMO, these lighting jobs were done tastefully enough that they looked good, not ricey. I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks of this. Anyone got em' on their classic?
Also, this may be urban legend, but I'm pretty sure red and blue underglow is illeagal becuase they are police colors. With out those you're left with a pretty poor color selection... Although white lights under white paint might be nice. But still ricey. Always ricey.
Some of the cruises and car shows here in Michigan are okay with light systems. Some cities and townships have no problem with lighting, Woodward Dream Cruise, Gratiot shows, Royal Oak is legal all summer. I personally like anything that is an engine, planes, boats, helecopters, trains, import cars, old cars, new cars, mods, hot rods, formula 1, formula d, drifting, ssca, I just love it all. I find it awesome that the young and old are finding common interests in cars. This is a good thing ! My son is 21 years old and his Nissan 350 Z Anniversary edition gives us a great bond by sharing interests in our love for cars. His interests are different from mine and I respect that. I like the 1/4 mile tracks, He likes the SCCA tracks and the Formula Drifts, His interests have opened a new world to me in imports. I have led blue lighting inside my mach 1, Glen has a couple of good comments on my distorted pics of them LOL. Here is a pic of one of our so called ricers. It has a lighting system that chases, changes colors, Panasonic surround dvd, 7" led screen, navigation system, ram air, after Market exhaust, and more.
I wouldn't put it on a classic car, or a 4x4 anything... but I think we all need to remember its his car... and maybe where he lives it is cool todo. different strokes for differnt folks (show and tell time)
I will admit I have neons on my little truck. probably gonna regret this....but
I think it's different now adays for kids. I wasn't born early enought to really remember muscle cars and classics (now) the way some of you older guys do, the cars that were cool when I was growing up were the 80s and 90s cars, the IROC and 5.0 stangs, S10s and Rangers. When I got this truck it was the hottest thing out... and big loud systems were in as well, if you couldn't hear it comming a mile away it wasn't cool in my home town. Thats why I did my truck the way I did...

even if you think it's rice and you don't like it you gotta respect the hours and craftsmanship that went into building it, everything was done by me, (engine work, trans work, lowering suspension work, interior, painting the tonea cover, grill, lights, built vinyled and installed the box, amp rack, all the wiring...you name it I did it. cept the headliner, but I helped the guy do it.
Its a crowd pleaser at car shows and DB drags, hits about 155 DBs and I am more then welcome to let people at car shows sit in it and feel the rumble... (not many cars at a car show you can sit in) plus it handles like nothing I've ever drove, I can out corner my roomate in his 98 stang at the road coarse and it aint to slow with the 4.0 chipped V6.
My dads "show off" ride...

Hi Kyle, hey I've never seen them there neon lighting on any type of car before, ya got any pics of them ? I've seen and have LED, Cold Cathode, and incandescent lamps in, on, and around my 1970 mach 1 I really hope my car don't disgust you too much, I'd really be upset for that to happen. You knew what i really like is the lamp oil they used on the old cars like the model A. I also like the light & sound given off from a LP gas discharged from the exhaust and ignited by a spark plug. Flame throwers, there 2 Kool. I don't have much time in life to be disgusted. I'm to busy enjoying life to its fullest. This letter is from an 55 year old gray haired Marine Corp Vetnam Vet that fight very hard to stay alive. When I slide up to the pearl gates or the gates of hell I will be able to yell this life was one fantasic RIDE !
