Default Well. **** on a Shingle

i guess we just broke a TKO 600

my dad was shifting through the gears to get it into reverse (he needs to go 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 R to get it in)

and when he put it into 5th, it was stuck solid, spent a good two hours trying to get that bitch out, finially got it into the garage (it was engaged into 5th) and ended up taking of the shifter plate, and the bar that has the slot for the shifter is stuck solid, so. my guess is the interior linkage is bend and or broken, so

should we opt to get it fixed or get a new tranny alltogether

Is this thing new? I've heard the newer Tremecs have crappy shifting to begin with. I'll prolly just do a junkyard T5 then a Geforce conversion later on or when I break the T5, whichever comes first. If it's new I'd contact Tremec

It is probably a bent shifting fork or internal linkage like you say,,,, I would fix it... but if you decide you don't want it I can take it off your hands.....

Transmissions have internal parts to eliminate the possibility of the transmission going into two gears at once. when a shifter fork or linkage gets out of wack the safety lockouts will often lock the stick up tight, as they are designed to do... Two gears at once + motion = tranny explosion....

It will probably be a minor fix to get the trany going again.

If you had to through all of that rigmarole to get the tranny into reverse, then there has probably been a linkage or fork problem for some time....

no, its just because of th non synchroness, i know a bunch of people who go through 1-5-1 to get it in, just lines up the gears

and yes, the tranny has about 2k miles ago, bought it about a year and a half ago

but hopefully, its as easy as you say, and i can finially get my dad to get a short throw so i will stop missing 3rd (i do it 9/10 times i shift from 2nd to third, too used to my T5 with a shortie in the fox)

anyway, if the trannys junk, we will probably be looking toward an amazingly overpriced t56, but hopefully thats worst case

yeah, one of the fork thingys inside was locked into 4th gear, like you said, we popped it out and it shifts fine

my dad found an article on here saying that that can happen, and showed how to fix it, says it shouldnt happen again

im guessin we just saved about 1000 dollars in labor, thank god, my dad is buying a pro 5.0 shifter with the stops so i dont miss third anymore ;D itll be a slightly shorter shift, but its got a huge T-handle, and i think we can handle it
