Fiberglass Hood Tips
So I picked up a 67 Shelby style fiberglass hood for my 65 Mustang. Anyone have any tips for prepping if for paint? The bottom is unsmoothed strands, is there a way I could possibly smooth it for looks?

That hood looks awesome. I am going to use Bondo to fill in the areas around the outside like yours is. Do you have a close up of the middle? I think I really like it from what I can see!
Also, what front valance set is that? Your car looks awesome! You don't have a webpage dedicated to it, do you?

The black area under the hoodwas, raw fiberglass, with glass cloth weave texture. The SEM sound deadener ismuch like a truck bed liner in texture, when sprayed on the glass, it blurs the cloth texture, but doesnt eliminate the weave entirely. The matt black finish, leavesa nice under hood lining appearance to it, hard to the touch. So far it has shurgged off stains.
The valance is a Shelby w/bumper type. Nope no web page.

with your fiberglass hood i would prep it just like steel, scuff it on the bottom side and seal it before paint, on the top, block it down, fix as needed and prime, seal and shoot! nothing really that different
I think I am going to go the way of Mr Classic. I really like that look! It is either that or I try to get resin and smooth it...or maybe get some of that hood insulation used on newer cars and make a hood liner for it.
