You want longtubes for optimal sound and performance.

Shorties end usually close to where the stock manifold ends. Longtubes go all the way to down around the tranny.

torque, but in the horse power/torgue range we're dealing with, the difference is minimal. You have to be pushing big numbers to see the difference. Ease of installation is probably the biggest factor. Shortys tend to be easier to put in. But I've seen lousy shortys that are an absolute pain. A good set of long tube will easily slip in place, but you're also talking 351 in a 66. You'll need todo some investigating, like are you running a manual or auto, clearing any power steering, bell housing, or starter, etc, etc.

Try Doug's headers, or Thorley headers, i could swear I saw something on351 in a 64-66.

You will need to specify that you are putting a 351 in a 66,,,, you need "swap headers"....

JBA makes some for the swap, but like their other headers, you pay for the quality.

I put the JBA shorties on my 67 when I put my 351W and my FlamingRiver rack & pinion setup in there. Fit like a glove. Not pounding, no fussing, they just slipped right into place.

Only bad part was the $$$.
Trying to convince the wife that a $600.00 set of headers was necessary was a tough sell.
That went over like a fart in church.
