motor vibration
My buddy just got my 347 started when I was away in Germany. I was talking to him about it, and he said that the engine was still shaking at higher RPMs. So, it sounds like there is a balance problem. When I had the internals balanced, the shop used a 28oz flexplate and balancer. Now when I got around to building the engine I decided to go manual and put on a 28oz flywheel (tripled check to make sure it was 28oz). I did put on a differnet balancer but it was still 28oz. Can anyone tell whythe engineis still vibrating and not smoothing out at higher RPMs?

When going stroker, the ballance can be 0, 28, or 50,,, it is hard to say unless you know the balance of the assembly...
It is possible that even though the flex plate may carry a 28 imballance part number it may have been altered.
You might want to have the take off flexplate checked (at a machine shop) to see what balance it actually is.
An example of this is that my sons 408 is 28 imballance, and my brother in law's 408 chevy is 0...

JMD, I thought it depended on the kit? Most call out for a specific flywheel to compliment their balancing. Like this http://www.monstermarketplace.com/Au...15a197308.htmlcalls for the 28.4 flywheel.
Curious, because I plan on running a stroker myself, and it's my first experience with one.
