I assume it fits on a 200, but I don't know for sure though...

Yes

all three heads - the 170, 200, and 250 - will fit on a 200. The difference is CR between the three.

I did a lot of reading about the inline 6's but it was way long ago. The thing I recall vividly, and mind you it's recall, is that the 144-200 heads have integral intakes. The 250 detached. So, that head might be a 250 head. But I can't see the other side to see if that intake bolts on.

Hold on, I finally found some info: http://www.mustangmonthly.com/techar.../problems.html

Ha ha! My '69 Econoline had a 170 six in it. Mmmm, 3 on the tree!
It ran well enough but topped out around 55 mph!
The 170's had solid lifters so they were a little noisy and the rocker arms had to be adjusted occasionally.

After I drove the van across country I pulled the 170 and dropped in a 302 from a '74 Maverick.
Needless to say it was quite an upgrade!

Sorry to be rude guys, but I think you're all wrong

The 250 head is not detachable from the intake. What that person (who has the falcon) has done is taken the head (whether it be off a 170,200, or 250), put 2 holes in it (the same size as regular intake, which is probably 1.5" but could be 1.75" if it's a later model head). They then attached an Offenhauser intake mainfold onto it. They could have, with more fabrication, just made the log-head have the capability to directly mount the carbs on; however, it is much easier to just add the offenhauser on.

Okay, I just looked at the picture closer - it is a later model head. Notice that the "log" intake is flat on the top. That means that the head is probably from a 70s or early 80s model.

So yes, a 170, a 200, and a 250 head will all bolt up to each other's block. A popular mod to these inlines is taking the 250 head and decking it, thus changing the Compression Ratio. The only head that had a detachable intake was the Ford Aussie inline 6. If you find one, they're pretty rare, and pricey.

Oh, haha! i just saw this: http://www.mustangmonthly.com/techar.../photo_10.html

Not rude at all! You are correct! I got curious, so when I got home I dug into my Car Craft custom archive (the closet) and found my inline 6 goodies. What I messed up on was the head, and you are doubly correct about the offy addon. They used the late 72 170 head on the early 200 to build compression.
