Default frame rail replacement

Has anyone had any experience replacing front frame rails? I had to remove most of the front of the car in front of the firewall. I bought the 1967 shop manual but chassis dimensions are all wrong in the manual so I can't get the frame rails lines up of check the res of the frame alignment.

Does anyone have any suggestions or had problems with the mauals accuaracy?

Maybe the manual is correct and your car has been in an accident in the past. How far off are the dimensions?

the shock towers might have fallen in, but the frame rails? its def been in a wreck if its off that bad, and if thats the case just take it to the frame shop, they should be able to help some.

I did some more measuring and got the dimensions to come out right the second time. The right frame rail is off by only about 1/4 inch and I have no reference points to measure the left one since most of the points to make my baseline are parts I have taken off to replace. Called a frame shop and got a quote of $800-1000 to check and weld the rail on. Might be worth it.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was in a wreck, it's been badly abused but it is restorable.
