Yeah I was looking at the dolly, I was getting lazy. I'm going to check the prices with a couple local places here on the car hauler, you guys are right, its not worth the risk.

I rented a car trailer from Uhaul and it was relatively cheap to carry my coupe ~1k miles. No problems encountered.

Recommend that you call Uhaul (or whatever company you may chose) in advance and make sure your truck/SUV can accomodate the trailer. I have an old Toyota landcruiser so it was no problem!

i would just find a buddy to follow me and then take me wherever I would go. If the car is in running condition and street legal that is

~2cents

Why does it matter, if it's a manual trans? The oil is always circulating the gears regardless if your pushing or coasting. I disagree with the disconnecting of a drive shaft on a manual transmission car. It is always prudent to limit the speed on a towed car regardless, stay to the right and keep it below 56.

For a manual, there is no reason to disconnect the driveshaft, unless you're just trying to keep the odometer from adding those miles. An auto has no lubrication unless the engine runs, a manual just needs the gears to be turning. For 40 miles, I wouldn't worry about it. It would also be a lot safer to just have a buddy follow you in one of your cars for that short of a distace.

Yeah I did option #2, had someone follow me. The tranny linkage needs a little adjustment and the little tires had trouble keeping all the power on the ground. It ran great. I'm going to post pictures of my new mustang in a couple minutes. So nice to have one again.
