A Different 347 (Theory)
While looking at current block question on the forum, (a question I am not qualified to answer), I started looking at aftermarket engine blocks.
This one in particular got my attention because it will accept a 4.125 bore, and has a stock deck height.

I started plugging figures into my displacement calculator and noticed that while using this 4.125 bore and a stroke of 3.250, the engine displacement would be 347.46. The stroke of 3.250 is the same stroke typically used to make a 331 with a stock bore. (331.64)
The typical 347 is achieved with a bore of 4.030 and a stroke of 3.40. (346.95)
I thought this might be an interesting combination for someone looking at starting an engine from scratch...

And a 342 with a 125 bore is a 363. It is awesome. This is a customer setup and he still had plenty left he can take it out also. Dart is a good one also.

not to hijack...but your Mustang is sick.

USMC, the bore is .125, not the stroke. Instead of .040, or .030
The stroke is how far the crank moves the piston up and down.
A 342 uses a 3.4 stroke. So the piston has 3.4 inchs of travel up and down.
A 347 is a 342, with a .030 bore Or did I jsut confuse you more ?
So the 363 is just a 342 with a .125 bore.
The way he's getting it, is taking the 331, and maxing out the bore. Different way, same cubes
so your say you have a .125 bore? so you took 1/10 of the cylinder wall away? thats whats confusing me about whats there you do know the max your supposed to bore out is .060 and he's got double that.........
He's talking about an aftermarket block... much strong and able to be bored to larger diameters than the factory block.
The downside is the $2000 initial price for the aftermarket block [sm=sigh.gif]
