Default Traction bars....

Im thinking i could use some traction bars. When i "punch it" to the floor, my 69 will just sit there squalling for 30+ sec w/out holding the brake. Its nice but if i were ever to line up with someone, id prolly get beat even though i know i could wax 99% of the cars around here off the line. Any reccomendations of brand/size? I have a 9" rear with 3:89 tak lok, 235/60/15 Michelin Pilots on rear, 215/60/15 on front.

Traction bars are to prevent wheel hop caused by the rear springs winding up. If the rear isn't bouncing up and down you don't need them. They won't do anything to improve tire grip.

A plus for what Oxnard Montalvo said. Maybe don't punch it so hard.

when lining up just hold down your brake and take the rpms up, maybe to about 1500 and then let off the brake. (different cars have diff rpms they launch good at without spining) just kinda mess around with your car untill you find a good rpm that will hook

Yeah, sounds like you need some sticky tires, or you could try modulating the throttle

Old school Lakewood Traction Action bars, the type that replace the lower shock plate and have a front clamp to adjust snubber spacing will "plant" the tires and kill wheel hop. If you just go to a stickier tire you'll probably have wheel hop. Just don't go with the cheap clamp on universal slapper bars.

Traction bars will only cure wheel hop... wheel spinning needs stickier/wider tires and from the sounds of it maybe a driver mod too...

Adriver mod?..... your ridulous, idwax your small block. A buddy of mine just suggested some traction bars to hold the *** end down and i was curious to see what the experts thought about it, not your immature ***.

No offense dude, but he did put a little smiley indicating he is just joking with you. As for being ridulous (sic), if churning tires for 30+ seconds isn't merely hyperbole, you're not gong to "wax" his small block ... unless that is a euphemism. [sm=happybounce.gif]

FWIW, I had good results reducing wheel hop with Traction Masters.

Good luck!
Jeff
