Default 84 351w almost ready

ok i got everything already ordered for my 84 351w. it has performer intake and 4 barrel carb currently in it. headers, comp cam, lifters and springs are on their way. My question is do ya think this will be a good street machine with this setup? I had a carbed 302 and considered it really slow. I can install this 351w with this setup, but do you think i will be satisfied, i do not think my dad will be pleased after wedo the install,if i am still unhappy and to decide to tear it down again. If it is decided to keep on building it, itwill be a slow process with college and work. So should i go with the setup or keep building on it? I want this car to be a good fast car, not drag strip fast, just fast enough to beat some cars on the street.

Depends on what cam and heads you have. There are other combinations that need to work together as well. Good gears and a little stall helps. It sounds like it may be a good motor though.

I think you should be happy with it compared to you 302. Im assuming the 302 was a 2 bll stock engine?
What rear end ratio have you got in it, and what gearbox?

yes it was a 302 2 barrel, as for gear ratio and and gear box's i do not know anything about it, my dad knows more about it, if you have any suggestions on what gear ratio and what gear box is needed i would not mind the input, i am certain everything is stock accept for the 302 the 65 had.

you will be please with your setup, i would go with a more agressive cam just for the small power gain and the sound of the engine lope

What cam did you go with?? The specs would tell us more. And you might as well have the heads ported before you put it back together.. and you will definately like the way it runs..
