Default Leaf Springs!?

Planning on getting the Grab A Track handling kit for my 67, and wondering if anyone knows what size/how many leafs you have in the back. There are options from 4 leaf standard eye, to 4 1/2 and 5. all with reverse eye mid eye or standard. Dont tottally know which will make a difference. can anyone help and or know what they have and what looks and rides the best. thanks

4 should be good for a 67 ,,, 4.5 would be stiffer.. The mid eye would lower your ride,, or depending on how loose your springs are right now, it might actually sit at the same height.. If you plan hauling things, or family around in the back of the car, then I would go 4.5.. reverse eye would drop the rear pretty low.. and standard would actually raise the rear end from where it is now,, at least for a while until the springs start to give a little and settle..

I plan on getting 4.5 mid eye for my rear, just because I plan on dropping it all the way around about an inch in the future.. And I have two kids to put in the back and a drum set on occasion..

4.5 is more performance oriented or like was said, if you plan on regularly putting things in it. 5 is prolly gonna be too stiff for the street for most people. 4 would be mild performance but with a bit softer ride than 4.5. It really depends on what you want from the car. And keep in mind that lowering a car means you scrape more. Check your ride height now and compare it with what stock should be, if you're already sitting about 1" lower than stock and you're ok with it, then you might as well get the 1" drop stuff(mid eye). Most of our cars with worn suspension are raised back up to stock height with new springs

I drive with 4-1/2 leafs and I like it. Granted, they're a little old and probably not as stiff as new, but I don't think they're by any means too stiff for street use. Definitely not going to be a cushy ride, but that's what you get when you want better handling

That said, I'd recommend against the Grab-A-Trak stuff, simply because they don't offer it with anything but poly bushings. Poly squeaks, always. Rubber bushings were OE, and midolyne or polygraphite will provide the improved stiffness that standard poly does, without the squeaking.

I put the 4's on mine not to long ago. My old leafs were attatched to a 4" drop shackle in the back. The new leafs are attached to the regular shackle and the height is about the same for both set ups. So you will see a signifigant difference in your setup. I will pm you before and after pics of mine.

EDIT: I bought the standard eye, 4 leafs

It wouldnt deliver the email, so I just copied the message:

Before- I had the old 4 leaf with a 4" drop shackle. You can see it sticking out below the quarter panel.

After- This is the stance now with the standard eye 4 leaf and the regular shackle.

I BELIEVE (could be wrong) that the original height was 26 1/5 inches from ground tohighest pointof wheel opening. Right now I have 215 70r14's in back, and the when measured from the ground up it is sitting at 28". From the center of rear axle up, it is at 16".

I put mid-eye 5 leaf on my 67coupe. I like the way it lowered it, it hugs the tires nicely now. I wouldnt go reverse eye personal, I think that would cause some issues.

Can't say about the handling though, doesn't run. I've heard 5leaf may be harsh..
