Default One strange pony!

Has anyone ever heard of a "C" 289 car with 4 lug front and rear. I thought all 289's were 5 lug...

is there actually a "C" in the vin? unelss it was a huge manufacturing error or someone decided to swap to a i6 front suspension and rear end then im going to have to say that it was probably originally a 6cly car

Yes it is a "c" code.... Another strange thing about it is that on the dataplate it is a "0" axle code. According to the books I have there was no "0" in 67....

Have you verified the vin on the title versus the vin on the car? a C code title with 4 lug wheels is a red flag.

Over 40 years, it's quite possible that the car has been sectioned and the front clip replaced with that of a different car.

Definitely check the VIN on the inner fender.

I just recently looked at a '68 that the owner put a 88 HO 302 in - with a four lug suspension all the way around. He told me the car was originally a 289, and that the door plate was missing. I told him to check the VIN on the fender, and it came back as a 6cyl Auto.
