I'min the marketto purchase a '71 Boss 351 and the fellow who has one for sale, 3 states away,[ 3rd owner ] cannot be sure the Cleveland 4bbl in the car isthe original Boss4bbl Cleveland. My question, is there any where on the motor top side that can tell him if it'sthe Boss Cleveland? I want a numbers matching car and everything else matchs the Marti report on this car.

Block casting numbers are located near starter motor.

The D2AE-CA is 351C Boss 351C-71 CJ, HO 72-74 4V, 1972 (D=1970, 2=2)

You'll find the VIN number to the car stamped on the back of the block on a small rectangular pad. The pad is just below the deck surface where the face of the head meets the block. You'll be able to see it with the use of a small telescoping mirror placed between the back of the block and the firewall. I'll try to get you some pics of mine this weekend. Good luck, Dean
