i have a 66 289 with 351 heads and a friend gave me patriot block hugging headers and i dont have enough clearance to put em in. theres about an inch or two between the exhaust manifolds and shock towers. do i have to get custom headers made or is there another header that will work in this case? has anyone else dealt with this issue?

 

351w heads have the same dimentions as the 289s, so thats not an issue. are you SURE those headers wont fit? in any case, standard headers for your year mustang with a 289/302 will fit just fine.

 

if they are for a 289 then they should fit fine as 77stang said they are the same dimensions.

 

i really think they were for 289 s put in hot rods cuz thats what my friend had em for. thanx i think ill scrap them and order ones that are for 289 stangs
