Still have a starting problem, please help.
There have been a slew of starting problems lately. It must be global warming.
I have a 65 289. I have replaced the starter solenoid, and the battery (700 cold Cranking Amps).
Voltage: 12.2~12.5 while sitting.
13.8 under full load.
Alternator checks good, all belts are tight, no loose connection on solenoid or starter. Starter botls are tight and wire looks to be good.
When the car has been sitting it starts with no problem.
When the car is warm it will barely start. What I mean is that if I make a quick stop and shut the car off and try and restart within 30 mins, the Starter will barely crank over. It may take several tries to get the car to start. Instead of the normal starter RPM it would appear be 1/3 to 1/4 slower than normal while drawing a ton of power.
After the car is warm the starter will draw far more amperage than it should and will quickly drain my battery.
I am not getting the normal indication of a bad starter. Before I switch out the starter I was wondering if and what electrical problem it may be if any.
I hope I have given enough information.

Unhook pos. battery cable, then check around starter solenoid, ignition switch, battery cables and starter for any loose wires. Other than that get a new starter. Not that expensive just a pain to change out. Sounds like starter anyway. (After it heats up then don't want to work.) Oh, check your ground wire too.
