HELP! Car wont start anymore!
Before you change the starter make sure the relay is good. I have had several go out and do the same thing as you described. They are cheap and a weak point in the system so try replaceing that first. Much easier than the starter. Also, do the obvious, check all connections, grounds and of course the battery. It may not have the voltage to turn over motor expecially if it is high compression.
Check all ofyour battery cables very closely..... Don't forget the grounds.....
Remember a battery cable can look fine but be ineffective, especially the "made in china" stuff that is proliferating out parts stores these days.
Get a helper to bump the starter while you grab a hold of the cable near the end and firmly pull the cable around in a circular pattern. You might see a spark, the cable may pull out of the terminal end,or suddenly the engine may start cranking.... either way you will have probably found your problem. Do this to all of the ends before getting a new starter.

Definitely not the battery. Checked it with another extra battery. Don't know what a relay is or how to get to it. Sounds like the starter is getting power, it just makes some really bad clicking sounds. Not just a click like it normally makes when the battery is dead, a whole bunch of clicks.

There were some loose wires on mine when i bought the car, and it caused the clicking, after tightening them she started just fine
had similar problem...turned out to be combo of bad starter and fried points.
somtimes it would start..sometimes not. replaced the starter (piece of cake) and replaced the points with pertronix. runs fine!

That great that you got it to start again. Starters are funny things, just thinking about it electrical systems are funny things. My job is in electronics and I still can't make sense of how some things works, I believe in magic sometimes.
