Default My Waterpump Pulley

I know this isn't that big of a deal for most, but to me it is and wanted to show off the small work. :P

I have a 6" bench grinder that I put a wire wheel on, and started the cooling fan, but the unit is too small to get all of it, so I'm going to get a wire wheel for my hand grinder, however, I was able to do one side of my pulley and wanted to show the backside before, and front after. I know the back is shown then the front, but I didn't take any before pictures of the front, so I wanted to show how it did look to now. I'm quite happy with the small steps I've gone. (I just got my 69 Mustang last week, so it's all new to me, and doing small things like this are exciting. :P )

Not that I don't think you did a nice job...but in the future, you might consider sandblasting if it's available to you. I sandblasted all of my pulleys. Took all of 20min to do the pulleys and timing cover and they turned out great

I most definately wanted to, however, don't have an aircompressor and/or glass beading unit, and also don't have a sandblaster or the place to do it in a confined area. Down the road, I plan on glass beading.

Nice job!
Yeah I took my hood springs/hinges into work one day and bead blasted then powder coated them.

They're NICE! I get excited just like you

Sweet job. It's little things like this, that take a lot of time (when you don't have a sand/bead blaster) that often get overlooked and are under-appreciated in a resto. Nice job!

if your like me i work on stuff at night and evenings and sometimes i dont have time to take things to a blaster and on stuff like pulleys and brackets ive used spray on paint stripper from the parts store and a pressure washer (or car wash) and the little traces that it dont take off comes off real easy..i do alot of 4 wheeler frames and dirt bikes and on small stuff, stripper is a time saver..[sm=smiley20.gif]

Dont let the lack of equipment hold you back man.
Its a labor of love anyway. I had my 66 on hook hanging in the sop last winter and stripped the underside to bare metal with
a big *" wire wheel on a heavy duty grinder took about 4 days but the results were great and now its painted and looks great.

Finished up the cooling fan tonight as it looked the same as the pulley. Was able to prime both the pulley and fan as well. Will be spraying on the paint probably tomorrow. Small progress, but lots of fun and excitement.

Small projects are where we all start. Sooner or later you will taking on bigger jobs (some that you probably shouldn't be taking on, speaking from expierience ). Thats where this place comes in handy. Many people here help my dumb a$$ when I get in over my head.
