got a wierd question....
Ijust sold my car to a guy in Croatia. Has anyone sold a car to anyone outside the US? Should I be concerned about beingripped off in some way? He wants photos of the title, reg., and car to submit to the gov. to get the itcertified as antique and OK'd for import. If you have any input on this I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Biggest thing is to make sure you have some sort of certified money in your hand before you wave bye bye to your car. Western Union does international transactions. Or somehow arrange a third party to hold onto the documents and money and act as the intermediary for the transaction. Most big banks will do this. They will releash the documents and money when both parties confirm they have recieved what they need to, its a good way to cover yourself.
OK - international transactions are common BUT be very careful with western union, 99.9999% of the time people who want payment or to pay through this system are tying to rip you off (I know first hand trust me)
In France, you get your vehicle registered once it is in the country and not before ... if he wants all this stuff to register the car that is not even his ... it feels to me that then it will be in his name and therefore may try to get it from you for free or something like that ... personnally I would not do it ... your call but it is fishy

Id tell him come over look at it in person you like it pay me there then its yours.I wouldnt buy a car i havent seen in person pictures can hide things or be touched up.Or find you a car broker they can handle everything legal and money wise they do charge a fee.
I wouldn't do it, sounds like a scam. Make him arrange for an agent of his to inspect and PAY FOR the car. Make sure you get CASH, not a certified check (which will initially be honored by your bank but can come back on you a week or two later). If that's your car pictured in your profile, I'm guessing you're getting a pretty penny, make sure you actually get it.
I would think your car should sell well in the US, no need to sell to Croatia.
JMO.

Don't send any docs until you get cash. On second thought, why bother with the hassle and the risk. Is he paying you more than anyone else would for the car? Usually a good indication of a scam.
Just sell it locally for a reasonable price and get cash payment. Again that C-A-S-H, cash, US currency, dollar bills y'all.
