Default 67 drive shaft

A freind of mine pull out his auto trans and put in a four speed (I wanted him to go with the T-5). Now his drive shaft is to short. Does that sound right?

He used a 4 speed that he got from a shop. Next time I see him, I will ask. It could take some time. I don't see him every week. It may take two weeks or more.

If its a top loader the drive shaft should be the same. My car was originally an automatic and the shaft fits fine. He will really like it, wakes a 289 right up to run it in its power band.
