Default Help! convt rocker panels

Hey guys, I've got a 66 drop top thats getting eveything. Floors, inner rockers, rear frame/torque boxes, front torque boxes, frame extensions, seat pans, etc, etc...

Anyway, I've run into a problem with the inner rockers. The re-pops measure 6" tall from the top of the top pinch weld to the bottom of the bottom one. the problem is the original outer rockers are about 5 5/8" high. I thought maybe the rockers were collapsed from a jack or something since there wasn't any inner rocker left and there was no support but I have 2 65 fastbacks in the shop to and they all measured the same height. So if I line up the top of the rockers flush with the door opening the inner hangs down which would cause the floors and everything else to be too low (or lower that before), if i make the bottoms flush the inner sticks up above the door opening and I would have to trim back the support behind the door. The repro seat pan, torque boxes seem to fit the new rocker though. I called several parts suppliers and had them measure their rockers (inner), they were all 6". does anyone have an original (unrestored) convertible and can measure between the pinch welds with an outside divider or something and let me know what it is? I can section the new rocker to make it fit the car but then i'll also have to modify the new seat pans and such to fit the shorter height.

Please help!
thanks :-)

My rockers are trashed too,I'll get you some measurements when I get home from work tomorrow. I'm not sure if there is anything even to get a measurement from.

Mine are 6" on the button. Top pinch weld to bottom pinch weld. I used a level on top and a level on the bottom. I measured pretty much in the center of the door jam.Is this the same area you measured? Do you think they used a different rocker on the verts?

I have the same problem, let me share my story and see if we can help each other.

Mine is a 1965 Convertible. The rockers should about 5 3/4 high (5 5/8 is another common measurement), 4 inches high for the box portionand 3 inches deep. The ones that are repro are 6 inch by 4 1/4 by 2 5/8 inch. I ordered mine from Restoremustangs.com before I knew the reproswere wrong. Since then, they have been no help and want a 20% restock fee plus shipping back. I have contacted other 65/66 vert owners and theirs measure the same as mine. I found a set at mustangs unlimited that had the correct measurements (5 3/4 by 3) listed on their web site. I called them and they assured me they would be that measurement. Well, they arrived today and they are 6 x 2 5/8. I called them, they wont refund my shipping.

I found a guy in Canada that is restoring a 66vert and he mesured his new ones, same as my old ones - 5 3/4. He bought the correctinner rockers but he bought themin 2000 so those must not be available any more.

So now I have 2 sets of rockers that wont fit. I can't believe they make something as wrong as these and are still selling them. I would love to hear where to buy the correct ones.
