Default Tranny help

in my search to find a T5 and related parts, i found a guy who has a complete setup from an orginal mustang (toploader 4 spd).

he said i could have everything for 1k. would it be worth it getting this setup or going for the t5? i wouldnt have to worry about any incoviences (driveshaft, cables, linkages) with the 4spd, but i wont have overdrive.

what do you think?

IMO, I would go with the T5, but that's a personal preference...

depends on what you're driving it for. if you don't domuch freeway driving then it would probably be fine. I bought my t-5 for $100 + rebuild kit ($250) and remanufactured output shaft ($85)

I would still go for the T5. BTW, unless I'm remembering wrong, you'll still need to deal with a different yoke and/or shortening or lengthening the driveshaft when going from C4 to toploader. Also, C4 to T5 uses the same speedo cable and gear.

BTW, if the toploader's shift linkage has not been redone in all these years, it may not be fun shifting it. BTDT.

Good luck whichever way you go.

I'd of gone t-5........once you go from 4 to 5 speed in a classic..you'll never wanna go back......been there done that......sure is nice having 3.50 gears and cruising at 2000 rpm's instead of 3000 like I used too.......now I need more than 3.50's!!!! I'm thinkin 3.73's or even possibly 3.89's!!!! as I got a lot to play with now
