building 351w
I am going to send my block to the shop to get it cleaned up and ready for the rebuild. I need some recommondations on good combos. This will be a daily driver, but need some good power just incase the chevys want 2 play
I need :
- intake.
- carb.
- cam.
-heads. ...I will be running stock '69 heads for a month or so but want to buy some good heads.
and for my rebuild kit should I get flat-top or dish pistons? forged or hypereutectic??
- should i buy a summit rebuild kit or does anyone know of any better ones?[/align]

Looks like a good place to start. The power combos they have already done the homework and know what works best with their own products.

Give the guys at Comp Cams a call and let them know what you intend to do with the car and they'll give you some good recommendations.
A high-rise dual plane is generally pretty good street option. A single void beneath the carb before the intake divider will help will mid-range response.
You're likely to wind up with a cam in the low 500 lift and high 220 duration (at 050 lift).
For a carb, I'd go with either a Holley or Demon. I prefer double pumpers for their ease of tuning and flexability. I also like single plane intakes, even though they can exhibit some rough edges if not set up correctly or are too tall for the application.

i would use forged pistone over hypers. the performer intake. holley double pump 650-750 cfm carb. and have a cam custom ground for the car normally does'nt caost much more than buying an over the counter.
Use good forged pistons and at least good ARP bolts in everything, that way if you want to put nitrous on it later you can, or a bit of boost. Plus, forged pistons are a lot lighter. If not, hypers work well for a lower cost alternative. For heads, if I were doing a 351W I'd look into using Edelbrocks new Pro Port CNC'd RPM heads(you'd have to call them about it though, since they're basically not listed anywhere assembled). Intake/carb/cam combo is also gonna be affected by gearing and what you want out of the car. A Performer RPM would work nicely, and a roller cam if you can afford it.
