The other day i went out and bought a transmission for my fox body hopeing to get a c-4 but what i ended up getting was a fmx out of a 69 cougar with a short block bell housing. I figured the guys in the 5.0 wouldn't know as much about these fmxs as some of u classic guys. i'm oviously not going to use this heavy-duty cast iron trans for my small block 302 so i was just woundering for $150 did i make out with some kind of rare odd-ball transmission or did i end up with some to heavy power robbing transmission?
two things...for one i would never buy and fmx for 150,,the other how is it made to fit a short block( i think u meant small block) cuz short block is any motor, with just a block and rotating assembly
Sorry i did mean small block. So there really is nothing special to this trans other than maybe to someone who would want to swap there old cruise-o-matic for a newer style or keep there restoration going with factory parts.
yeah fmx's are good tranny's, just heavy. But if that 302 is built you might want to use it because it can take a lot of power. otherwise just get a pro built c4.
