Default Rebuild it or get a new one?

A buddy of mine has a 351W block in decent shape he's looking to sell for $100.00. Should I buy that and build from the ground up, or should I just spend $ and buy a crate engine? I'm looking for as much performance as I can pack into my 66. Any suggestions?

351 for $100 is a steel. If you want performance buy it and stroke it out to a 393. With the 351 you can get all the extra power of stroking with out some of the pit falls that are common when stroking a 302.
