best advice i can say is to take lots of pictures before you puland lots of labeling wires with tape. for me it was easier to pull the motor and tranny out together rather than disconnect the tranny.

If it's an automatic, then don't forget the torque converter bolts.

At the bottom of the bellhousing should be a small cover held on with a couple of bolts. take that cover off and you can see into the bellhousing. You're looking at the backside of the flexplate (automatic's flywheel). There are 4 bolts that go through the flexplate into the torque converter behind it. You'll need to rotate the torque converter around as you take them out. Don't forget:
- Starter
- Ground wire on the back of the motor to the firewall.

Be sure that wherever your picker is set up, it's got enough clearance above it. First time I pulled a motor, I got in a little fight with the garage door over about three inches. Dumb...but at least that was the worst that went wrong that time.
It's also a good idea to use a floor jack to support the tranny.

from personal experince, i HIGHLY recommend that you pull the transmission with the engine. even if you are going to be doing any work on the trans....
its a pain in the *** to deal with later, plus, there is only one bracket holding the transmission up..
Just.... make it easy on your self and pull the transmission with the engine.. you will be happy that you did..
