GT stripes
Are you suggesting putting the decal on and then clear over them? If so and I am definetly not a body guy I would think that the clear would just mess the decal up. When you do it in paint and I believe it is sanded then clear over it, it's like you can't feel the edge. If I just use the decal over the new paint and clear coat, they will change color and degrade over time. Besides I'm looking for the smooth look and feel.

Keep it out of the sun and it won't.

Besides, 20 years from now when it's faded to hell you really won't notice cause you will have watched the whole process take shape and in essence it will be the same to you as it was brand new.
As far as the IRS, where did you get the cobra rear to have them work up and how much was it, the rear and the work they did for you?
You can find the Cobra IRS from several sources including; Ebay, svtperformance.com(another forum), local yards. I am sure there are other sources as well. I'm not great on the internet, but when I started looking I found a few pretty quickly. I got mine as a good deal, $700.I have seen them go for $700 to $2000. The complete unit probably weighs 500 lbs. So to have it shipped ?. I was close so I drovea little. Actually, the only thing you need to make it work in a classic is the install kit from DVS Restoration. It's about $1600 and include brackets, bolts, coil over Koni shocks, and instructions(really good ones too). Check his website for the whole idea. Google DVS Restoration.
There is another service he sells and that is a modification of the subframe. You don't need this but it puts the subframe further up into the chassis/unibody. That's more money! I guess you could spend a bunch if you want all the bells and whistles. If the IRS is in good condition, ie., bearings, brakes, bushings, etc., you really only will be buying the install kit above. I have somewhat better that rudimentary mechanical skills, and I've done all the teardown, paint, and rebuild of the IRS as well as the bracket install on the '67. Sorry for the novel here. I am still looking for some measurements on the stripes. Anybody got a '67 GT.
