Best Gears?!?!
If you can get a socket on all of the nuts holding the pumpkin in it's an 8". If you need to use a wrench on a few of the lower nuts, it's a 9". If you are just going to use the car around town, and if you have enough cam, go with a steeper gear, like 3.90ish or so depending on your diff size.
What brand of gears do you guys recommend? I plan to do a swap next spring. Right now I can't go over 55mph because its maxing out the rpm's. It's a stock 351w with a 4 speed. I would like to cruise at 60 mph and 2200-2500 rpm. What gears / brand would that be?
Thanks Redmach

Ford racing, sells good gears, and if your running a 351 with a decent amount of power, i would toss a set of 3.55 or 3.25 for crusing the highway and such, but like we all say, if you want good off the line performance, go with a lower gear such as 3.73 - 4.11
I have 350's in my 03 Mach1 and my first gear is virtually worthless too. I often take off in 2nd, just so I don't have to change out of first so soon. My old 65 has 278's in it, and it is perfect for cruising and highway use. Not worth a flip for dragging though.
I have one of the saddest diff gears ever -2.77 non posi. I would like the 3.25
I don't want to get to radical, because it will really affect drivability. My 2.77s were nice on the Hot Rod Power Tour this year.

yeah the old silver bullet has the 3.25's and they do pretty decent as far as highways are concerned, and they dont do bad drag racing either.... if i wasnt such a strickler for correctness on that damn car i would throw a little lower gear setup in it....not like anyone would be able to see it, but at the same time i dont drag race or drive the car everyday for that matter
