Default weird electrical issue

For some reason in my 66, everytime i turn the wheel to the right my entire electrical system shorts out for a second. Lights, radio, everything, even the engine quits for a sec then comes back to life. Anyone got any ideas?

Check you battery cables sounds like the neg is loose. Check @ the starter too.
Or your connection to the main under-hood harness it is on the drivers side by the master cylinder.
Something is loose if it was shorting out I think you would have blown fuses.

Sounds like you've got a bad turn signal/horn unit in your steering column.

Good point I smelled smoke when mine went out. I didnt loose everything just the signal light froze up a lil smoke and a burnt fuse.
More to learn everyday Thanks James

I'd take care of that pretty quick. There's a full 12V always hot wire running up the column to the horn. You may want to unhook your battery till you can get it fixed.

James nailed it I think! I had the same issue on my 67. The horn insulator in the steering wheel was broke and let the horn ring short out. I saw sparks at night when I turned the wheel.

Buy a replacment with the wires that run down the column. Make sure you mark the wires if you have to use the old plug. It can be either in the switch or the wires that run down the column. Like James said, it needs repaired right away.

i'd unmount the horn ring, get rid of the c0ontacts in there and put it back together. if the issue disappears you know what to look for
