Default 429 stock intake

Hi,

Iam usually over in the 5.0 section, but love the classics as well. I have two1966's that will one day be fully restored. I need some quick advice. I really do not know much about the big block cars, but a guy down the street from me has what he's billing as a a 429-460 Super Cobra Jet Intake manifold. CAST NUMBERS: DOOE 8425 - C per his ad.

Does this sound correct? What would something like this go for? It is still FoMoCo blue and would need to be reconned, a little surface rust/corrosion where the carb mounts.

I am really looking to acquire it for the next time I go to a swap meet, or turn around and let it go so I can put some money into the fox body. Thanks again for your help.

"DOOE 9425 C" is the Super Cobra Jet (ie Holly pattern) intake. These are becomming rare. The only difference is in your question you list the number as "8425". Check to see if it isn't 9425.

The numebr is def., not a nine, it is exactly as I listed it. What is it then? Is it still a 429 intake? Still make sense to get if I can get it for $50 bucks or so? Thanks for your help.

The 8425 I am not sure. The 9425 is correct for the 429 CJ and SCJ intakes. I tried to search that number but found nothing. If its a 429 intake either Rochester or Holly, 50 is a steal. The DO should indicate 1970. The 8425 I'm not sure. Let us know.

If it's just a regular 429/460 cast iron intake, it's not worth much... IMO
I might have one or two laying around you can have...

I was looking for a Thunder jet number, I also think thats what it may be but I can't find one. Anyway its not a Cobra Jet or SCJ intake.

Yeah that was actually the one, I found others going for little money as well. The only real reason I was interested in it was becauseI could WALK there. You know just too tempting being right under your nose type of thing.

And...everytime I buy a part for a car I don't have, I magically own the car someday. Don't need that right now! HAHA! Thanks for the offer on the manifold though, tarafied1.
