Default Suspension Kits $$

so i have been looking at handling packages for my 66 coupe, something that will drop the front and rear about an inch

NPD has a kit that they call the "street bandit kit" it includes
-kyb gas adjust shocks, complete set
-front 1" and rear 3/4" sway bar kits
-Rear end lowering kit
-plyurethane sway bar end link bushing
-1" drop front Coils
$452

Paddock parts has a "grab a track" kit that includes
-grab a track shocks, complete set
-1" drop front coils
-1" front 3/4" rear sway bars
-1" drop rear leafs w/ shackles
-sway bar end link bushings
-coil spring insulators
$490

why does the grab a track kit with rear leaves and shackles only cost 38 bucks more? is the NPD stuff any better?

I talked to a guy at NPD and he couldnt explain why their parts were so much more $$, but i have noticed that their stuff has gone up a lot

anybody have any experience with either suspension kits?

First off, check to make sure all your other suspension bushings are in good shape, I doubt that unless someone has already rebuilt the suspension.

If all checks out, a few people have the grab-a-trak kits and like them.

If you have other suspension issues, Laurel Mountain sells a complete kit with upper and lower control arms, strut bushings, tie rod ends, etc., in addition to what is included in the other kits for $809. The pieces are top quality.

Buying individual components will give you greater precision than some 300 dollar kit, true you may spend2000$ but its totally worth it. Bilstein, Koni, Penske Shocks. Maier Racing Coil & Leaf Springs. Opentracker Control Arms and Perches. Street or Track adjustable strut rods. New Sway Bars.

At mustangdepot.com you can build a custom suspension kit.

My advise is to avoid polyurethane on everything except sway bar bushings. Poly has a tendency to squeak, and if you are using poly bushings with original strut rods you run the risk of sheering them off. So either run rubber or replace the strut rods with new. IMHO polyurethane has no business going on a street car it is no harsh, limits strut rod motion to much, AND even when well greased there is a good chance it will SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAK.

I bought an entire kit from Laurel Mtn. It had everything I needed and was good quality and a good price. I actually got mine off of eBay from them and saved $$$
