WTF? I have Posi?
Here is the thing, just because every one does it doesn't make it correct. If you want to call it posi, that is your choice, I really couldn't care less, you know the difference and use the word posi for the sake of mass understanding. BUT, if some one uses the term "posi" for there ford I am going ro razz them about it because in many cases the person does not know what a trac-lock is and it is a good chance to teach them the differences in the name, that whay they can choose to use the correct term or the generaly excepted term. I always do with a kidding nature and a "
" So I guess what I am saying is I will not "get over it" just as you choose to use the term posi.

... trac-lock or maybe because everyone with any automotive knowledge knows what a "posi" is and some may not know what a trac-lock is.

I'll add "cone" or "clutch" to the description of a specific type of limited slip, but only if the discussion warrants closer definition. It's still easy to think "Torsen" for that last one even though the talk might specifically concern a "Black Gold", though.

Actually I'm all for continuing to call it a posi, because then GM will lose its TM to the name and have to invest millions in coming up with a new name for the same thing. I'm going to go xerox this post and send it to everyone
because it brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it...I'd better go get a Kleenex. Anyone need a bandaid or q-tip while I am up and in rummaging though the medicine chest?

because it brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it...I'd better go get a TISSUE. Anyone need a SELF ADHEASIVE BANDAGE or a COTTEN-SWAB? You can put all those things in a RESEALABLE PLASTIC BAG, well you eat ORENTIAL NOODLES, and drink a SOFTDRINK.

Yep sounds much better Trac-lock it is

Just as an FYI sometimes non-trac lok cars can leave 2 marks but it is usually only when you leave short marks.
I think the easiest way to be sure that I know about (aside from dissassebly) is to just put it up stands and turn the rear tire by hand on one side. If they turn the same direction you have a lock device of some sort installed.

Crap it was a short burn out mark too. I suspose I can make a longer burn out mark.
Or look at the door code. Ill have to do that when theres some day light. The lift thing isn't going to work because I'm too lazy.
Didn't think this post was gonna start a trac vs. posi war. My bad. lol I'll start calling it trac lock. Now that I know the difference.

Let me give this pot another friendly little stir . . .
Trac-lok is specifically a 9" item only.
Traction-lok is specifically for the 8.8" and 7.5" units. No 9's here.
Auburn makes some cone-type 8.8" limited slip differentialsthat carry FRPP part numbers. The 'Pro' tag merely distinguishesit as having a different bias from Auburn's 'Heavy Duty' line.

So are we only talking about 9" or . . .
