67' coupe with a 289 and a three speed. first thing im planning on doing is replacing all the brakes and putting a new disk kit all the way around.

Why rear discs? Not really needed unless you're racing. I'd rather spend the money on replacing that 3 speed (I have one too=/).

i personally like the feel of all disks. but that three speed is the next to go. hopefully with that 289 too. i want to try and find a 351 or a 401 to put in.

Welcome Matt,

Looks like a sweet coupe. Let us know if we can help.

+1 for 4 wheel disc brakes.

But I have had a lot of fun with a 289 w/ a three speed in my first 66 coupe. It would pull forever in 2nd gear.

Great starting point for whatever you decide to do.

Because it's unneeded for a street car. There's not really anything unsafe about rear drums.

And rear calipers are a pain. Integral parking brakes make for expensive and complicated calipers. It's not usually a simple pad-slap operation, you have to reset the pistons with a special tool.Shoes are cake if you know what you're doing.

I'm not saying that rear discs are a bad thing, just that it's money better spent elsewhere IMO.

I agree. I've got rear discs and all they are good for is the cool factor. They do not improve the day to day function of the brakes. Save the 600 and buy yourself some great seats and 3 point seatbelts.

Thats a good lookin car!! Go with a good rebuild on the rear drums and put the money into suspension or something else you need... There is allways something else..
