Default Got a question for ya.

I know its been asked before, but how much work is it really to convert a 1965 manual brakes to 2 front disk brakes? Is it a weekend project for a normal person (not experts on cars but not completly dumb) What is required to do before the project as well as AFTER it?
Anything is appreciated!

thats a loaded question. really depends on what you are planning. If you are having to find used parts and rebuild them than more than a weekend. If you are buying a kit such as www.discbrakeswap.com sells than about a weekend. If you bought a retrofit kit that uses your original spindles and hard lines such as www.mustangsteve.com sells , than about 1 good day.

Not trying to Hijack or muddy the waters, but is there a stock disk that can bolt up, so when you need pads you can go to the parts store and ask for brake pads for your yearmustang instead of a.... lets say 76 granada?

76 granada would be perfect for your application. I would say 4 out of 5 Mustang disc brake kits use calipers that parts can be purchased for at any parts house. Some are bowtie parts depending on the kit but most are available.

Installing original 65-66 front discs spindles, rotors and calipers would obviously be the right choice. The problem are 1) finding the stuff (next to impossible) and 2) the cost is prohibitive. Early Mustang Rotors for example cost $150...1976 Granada cost $43. Early Mustang rebuilt calipers are $349/pair.... 1976 Granda are $40/pair.

well ill try to give you an idea...i was not very experienced brake wise when i did my swap and it took the weekend. i had only replaced the occasional pad and brake hose before then. its not hard at all, just take your time. my knees and back were pleanty sore afterward though.
