Default Aluminum Driveshaft

If I were to get an aluminum driveshaft for my T5 conversion - what length would it have to be? Stock 9" rear end to 351C with T5

I've heard different views on this
1. About and inch shorter - About? I need figures.
2. take your transmission and driveshaft to a shop and they can tell - How? It's not fitted to the car!

you need to have at least .75" between the shoulder of the slip yoke and the end of the trans (metal end of tail shaft not rubber boot) and no more than 1.5" between the shoulder and the end of the trans.
