67 aod TV Cable
So trying to figure out how this tv cable works it is very different from the kickdown cable for my c4, anyone explain to me how it works then maybe I can figure out how to finish my swap??
I also have an aod trans that needs to be installed and the tv cableproperly adjusted. If it's not adjusted just right it could damage the trans. Thats what i have been told by many others. After installing it take it to a trans shop to get itadj. right I don't know how to install it yet
its not a kick down, it controls the line pressure and shift points of the trans and if its not right it can fry your trans quickly. You want it to have the same amount of travel as the accellerator at the same ratio. There is tv corrector adapters made for holley and edelbrock carbs or you can make your own.

TV = throttle velocity. The trans pressure on the clutches varies based on if the engine is at idle, in town shifting or hard acelleration. It knows this by the position of the throttle. I did a swap a few years back and the AOD didn't die quickly but at highway speed the trans had low pressure, as if it were at idle. The clutches eventually began to slip and burned up. I had the pressure too low.
You will need a pressure gauge and fitting and you can adjust it your self if you don't want to pay a shop. It's not that complicated but it is important.

I think 'TV' = throttle valve, but that's minor.
IIRC, there is a procedure for initially setting it (safely) and you can tune it a little from there. But you absolutely DO need to have it with the AOD and at least get it at least close. I swapped a 5.0/AOD into my daughter's '66 some years back and didn't have much trouble getting it tweaked via SOTP methods that I think were mostly related to shift feel and timing (it's been a while). Maybe I still have some of the documentation - the aftermarket-sourced TV cable was relatively expensive.
The next owner of that tranny (the car was ~totalled, and some parts were subsequently sold off) fried the thing in less than a hundred miles, insisting over my objections that the simple C4 sort of linkage was sufficient and that being able to fit a particular set of headers had greater priority.
