I thought there were issues with the Pertronix II. I was planning on going with the regular one. With Daze's comments re: the MSD-6a, I may do that as well.

here is one more thing about the MSD 6a box. I saw a display once that had two electrodes and the distance between them could be adjusted and when you flipped on the machine a spark jumped between the two electrodes. There were 2 modes: standard ignition, and MSD 6A box. In standard there was a little orange spark that could not be made any longer than about 3/16". In MSD mode the arc was a brilliant blue white, at lest three times a wide as the first spark and I was able to move the electrodes over 3/4" apart before the arc failed. And with an MSD box I have never fouled a set of plugs even when my carb was set way to rich.

The best way to go about it if it is Duraspark that you will be using is to go to AutoZone or Advance etc and pick up a new Distributor for a "77 Thunderbird with a 302 and Ignition module with a "blue grommet". You also need a new coil for the '67 Mustang. You will also need to change the "plug gap" for m .035 to between .045 and .050 depending on what other kind of stuff is on the engine. Of course you will need some wire, solder etc to do the conversion.
Its cheaper this way.

Upgrading to duraspark is a good option however calling it "best" I don't think is accurate because it is not "performance oriented" and not a cheep as you might think. I went to parts america on line and priced things out

distributor $50
module $30
Coil $20
Total $100

Any way a new MSD 6a box can be had for around $160, so for $60 more you get a whole bunch more performance. I have two cars that both have the 6a, 1 has points and the other has a duraspark I have notice no difference between the functioning of the two.
