Default Failed Brake Lights?

My question is about the brake lights on my classic Mustang. When I first got the car the brake lights and tail lights were both working. Now, just the tail lights. I've replaced the bulbs, but still no luck with the brake lights. What is my next step? What should I try now?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums; I'm assuming your brakes still work

There is a little electric push-switch that switches when you push the brake pedal. Might check that. Also make sure all your wires are good all the way back.

Yep, welcome Jimmy;
Depending on the year, you may have a hyd switch on the master cyl or the brake pedal mounted switch. The easiest way to determine if its a bulb, wiring, brake switch or Turn signal switch is to find your switch and remove the plug. Check for voltage on one side of the plug wires, (this confirms your fuses are good, if fused), if no power you need to find out why. Thenjumper the plug with a loop of wire (in place of hooking up the brake switch) and look if you have brake lights. If lights, then its the brake switch or its adjustment. If no lights, pull a bulb and look for voltage on one of the little nodes were the bulb makes contact. If still no voltage, it's most likely the turn signal switch or the wiring in between.
Good Hunting!
